Sierra Club Florida, with many partners across the state, is working to oppose and intensify awareness of the largest road construction project in Florida since the 1950s.

Recently signed by Governor DeSantis, exact specifics are yet to be determined, but the current plan is certain to create substantial development in some of Florida’s last natural lands.

Not requested by constituents, the bill was birthed by a road-building association and backed by billion-dollar business interests, then ushered via horse-trading through the Florida Legislature as the number-one priority of Senate President Galvano.

The bill was ultimately signed after widespread controversy (and after a legislative session in which Senator Galvano delivered on the Governor’s priorities). Activists organized public events across the state, while journalists and editorialists adeptly covered and continue to cover “Billionaire Boulevard.”

A massive statewide constituency is now tuned-in, with many efforts underway to both stop and reshape this plan that would change the face of Florida.
