Last month we worked with international health charity Remote Area Medical (RAM) on an extraordinary two-day event that resulted in 2,000+ free medical procedures for patients across Florida and beyond.

The event took place at Manatee Technical College in Bradenton. The MASH-like operation of more than 740 volunteer health professionals provided free medical, dental and optical care to 1,618 patients, many of whom waited through the night to be seen.

Bradenton was the latest stop for Remote Area Medical (RAMUSA.org), which has conducted more than 700 such free clinics worldwide. Last year alone, RAM treated 27,523 patients, delivering more than $9.1 million in free medical care.

Originally founded to provide medical care in remote areas across the globe, founder Stan Brock unfortunately found there are more than enough patients in need of basic medical care right here in the United States.

The few-dozen media stories about the Bradenton event included: Bay News 9, Bradenton Herald, Sarasota Herald Tribune, WMNF-FMFOX13, Tampa Bay TimesAssociated Press.

RAM and Brock have also been covered in such media as 60 Minutes and The Daily Show.
